When he gets really riled up, Vivi enters trance, allowing him to become temporarily more powerful, as well as gain new, temporary battle commands.

As Vivi takes hits from the enemy, the Trance Gauge increases. At its max point, Vivi can unleash his trance and for a limited time become quite a bit more powerful. Just be sure to avoid being hit by the zombie status before the Trance Gauge is filled, or it will be reset to zero.

When in trance mode, Vivi gains the ability to doublecast, or cast two spells in a row. The merits of this are obvious: the damage against enemies is automatically doubled, and if Vivi uses an extremely powerful spell, the results are devastating. A great example of utilising his Trance would be to have the Auto-Reflect and Reflectx2 abilities equipped and have Vivi Doublecast Flare or Meteor on himself: with a high enough magic stat, this could cause up to 19,998 damage at one time.

Like the other characters, Vivi's appearance makes a slight change while he's in Trance mode. He takes on a blue glow, and his outfit becomes more ornamental, almost princely. His normally flopped-over hat becomes tall and straight. Overall, his typically frumpy appearance becomes refined.
